Dr. Ramanuja was born as the second son of Sri P Sanjivaiah and Smt, Chikkahanummakka at Bengaluru. After the demise of his father in the early age he was brought up by his mother and his primary education was completed at Bengaluru. Later he moved to Sri Urigaddigeshwara rural residential school for his higher education; where he passed it with distinction. He continued his further education at Bengaluru University and secured the postgraduate degree in History and bachelor degree in law. Then, Dr. Ramanuja continued his research in the department of History and secured Ph. D., degree for his research on the History of Bengaluru. In addition to these, he also completed various diploma courses successfully.

After he secured first rank in the KSRTC probationary officer's competitive examinations he was appointed as an officer in 2003 and he served the department until he resigned in 2006. In the same year he was selected as the Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Taxes through the competitive examinations and presently he is serving in the department at Bengaluru. The services of Dr. Ramanuja in the department is being appreciated by the eminent IAS officers across India and the noted Karnataka cadre officers namely Sri Jairaj, Sri Harish gowda, Sri Pradeepsingh Kharola, Sri Upendra Tripathi, and others. He also received d commendation letter from many of these officers. In 2003 he was awarded free 'I' category site in recognition of his meritorious service in the state government by Sri S M Krishna the then chief minister, Government of Karnataka. At present he is pursuing language studies in All India Institute of Indian languages. He has been instrumental in establishment of various non-governmental social and cultural institutions at Bengaluru. At the same time, has been felicitated by various institutions and organisations in recognition of his service to society and people at large. He is still continuing his social and sports activities in his lull time during the busy schedule of the government work.
